Heading past the Godrevy lighthouse peninsula the road follows the rugged coastline to Portreath, stopping at Hell’s Mouth café we peer over the cliffs edge to see the gaping Hell’s Mouth jagged rocks below. The road runs parallel to the cliffs, the landscape disappears over the cliffs to our left, it’s a rugged coastline with jagged rocks and coves. Stopping we climb through the gorse to sit on the edge of the cliff and gaze over and down to the rocks below.
Down a steep road into the cove, a small beach lined on one side by steep cliffs on the other the granite sea wall protecting the small harbour behind. We walk out across the sands, stepping across the central stream which run on into the sea.The surf and body boarders dive into the surf. Offshore a prominent lonely rock, sits isolated from the shore by the breaking waves.
