Spring in Black & White

An early spring bike ride up the river Isar towards the Sylvensteinspeicher, this is a cycle  route on the west side of the river through the woods and along the banks of the river, which eventually  ends within sight of the dams wall.  At certain points as the main flow of the river meanders downstream, the shallow stone bed of the river is exposed within its sweeping bends. It’s early April and the sunlight is still low in the sky, casting shadows across the stones where washed up tree branches and roots lay scattered across the river plane. This particular area offers a great view across the mountains to the prominent peaks of the Roß and Buchstein mountains in the distance. I liked the photographic contrast of the bleached and stripped tree stems with their tangle of upturned roots against the grey and white background of the stones, so I choose a black and white setup for this situation.
